How to increase libido with food

Your libido can decline due to many factors, one of which is your diet. It’s a no-brainer that the foods you put into your body can have an effect on your sex drive. Studies show that certain foods, vitamins and minerals all play a role in increasing libido, creating the right hormonal environment for healthy sexual desire. So eating the right food is one way to help increase your libido naturally. Here are the foods that could help get you in the mood.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruit contains Vitamin C which is an essential nutrient that helps increase libido. Vitamin C is also known as an antioxidant and it helps the body produce collagen which can help increase sexual pleasure. Vitamin C is also found in  kiwi, bell peppers, parsley, kale and broccoli.

Leafy green vegetables

Leafy green vegetables are rich in Folate. It is a B vitamin that plays an essential role in many bodily functions, including the production of sex hormones, DNA and red blood cells.

Folate can be found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach and kale, but you may also find it in dried beans or peas (legumes) as well as whole grains like bulgur wheat.

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are one of the best sources of zinc. Zinc is a mineral that plays an important role in many functions of the human body. It is found in every cell, and is needed for proper immune system function, wound healing and fertility. It helps your body produce testosterone, sperm, and other reproductive hormones. If you’re deficient in zinc, it can lead to infertility or impotence (erectile dysfunction).

Flaxseed

Flaxseeds are rich in phytoestrogens (plant estrogens), which are known to help increase estrogen levels. Phytoestrogens also boost the production of dopamine, a hormone that’s responsible for producing pleasurable feelings and creating sexual desire.

Salmon

Not only does salmon contain zinc but it also contains vitamin D3 which helps regulate estrogen and testosterone levels.

Salmon is also a good source of B6. Foods that contain vitamin B6 are good for mood and energy levels. They can also help increase testosterone levels, which is important in both men and women when it comes to having a healthy sex life.

Dark Chocolate

Chocolate is a well-known aphrodisiac because it has phenyl ethylamine (PEA) in it. The neurotransmitter phenyl ethylamine (PEA) is a natural mood elevator. It can also trigger feelings of excitement, attraction, and euphoria. PEA is also the same chemical released when you fall in love — hence its nickname “the love drug.”

Chocolate is also a good source of magnesium. Foods high in magnesium are known to improve sleep quality as well as reduce stress levels—both of which have been linked to higher libidos! But make sure you’re not eating chocolate that contains a lot of sugar. The sugar will cancel out any benefit from the magnesium.

Oysters

Oysters are famous for being an aphrodisiac because they are high in zinc which helps produce the male hormone testosterone. Oysters also contain vitamin B12 and vitamin D — two other important nutrients for good sex health!

Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds are rich in Vitamin E. This is another powerful nutrient that aids in circulation and blood flow throughout the body—including areas related to an active sex life!
